Privacy
What PinBench collects, why, where it goes, and how to change your mind. The short version: without an account nothing about you leaves your device unless you say yes, and your circuits and sketches are never used for anything but running them.
Draft, not yet in effect. The details marked to be completed below must be filled in, and the whole page reviewed, before it is published.
Who is responsible
PinBench is run by Burhan Khanzada, who is responsible for the processing described here. Contact for anything on this page: to be completed (a contact email address and a postal address).
Using the app without an account
Your projects are files on your device (or, in the browser, in the browser’s own storage). They are not uploaded anywhere.
Compiling in the browser. The browser cannot compile Arduino sketches itself, so when you compile an edited sketch in the web app, the sketch’s source is sent to our compile server, compiled, and the result sent back. It is kept only for as long as compiling takes. The desktop app compiles on your own computer and sends nothing.
Usage statistics and crash reports, only if you agree
The app asks once whether to share anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, and collects nothing until you answer yes. You can change the answer at any time in Settings → Privacy.
If you agree, the app sends: which screens and features are used, the app version, the operating system and device model, how long things take to load, and, if the app crashes, a technical report of where. These are tied to a random identifier for your installation, not to your name or account. They never include your circuits, sketches or files.
They are processed by Google Ireland Limited (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring), which may transfer data to Google LLC in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future.
Feature flags. Independently of that choice, the app fetches a small set of feature flags from the same service, using a random installation identifier. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in rolling features out safely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Accounts and cloud projects
If you sign in (with Google), we store your email address and name, the projects you save to the cloud, the people you share them with, and pending invitations. Projects you share by link can be read by anyone who has the link. This data is stored with a cloud database provider in Frankfurt, Germany, and is used only to provide these features. Legal basis: performing the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Deleting a project removes it; to delete your account and everything in it, contact us (see above).
The website
Serving these pages and the web app necessarily involves your IP address and the request, which the hosting provider logs for security and operation. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The website sets no cookies of its own and runs no tracking.
How long data is kept
Usage statistics and crash reports: to be completed (the retention period set in the analytics settings). Account data: until you delete it or ask us to. Compile requests: not kept.
Your rights
You may ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, a restriction of its processing, or a copy in a portable format; you may object to processing based on legitimate interest; and you may withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
Changes
If this page changes, the date below changes with it. Last updated: to be completed.
